Exclusive: Former Disney executive David Levine is stepping out of the children’s entertainment powerhouse Moonbag Entertainment, Deadline has learned. Well known executive as head of the studio since December 2020.
The London- and LA-based Moonbag was launched in 2018 and quickly made a name for itself Little Baby Left The series became a YouTube sensation, with Levine hired two years later to expand its brands. This includes YouTube and Netflix hits Cockmelon And Blippy.
Munbagh confirmed his departure in a statement on Deadline: “We thank David for his dedication and hard work that has led Munbagh Studios to significant growth.”
According to a LinkedIn post, Levin is now leaving to “explore new areas” and was “looking forward to new adventures.”
Levin is best known for his 16-year spell at Disney as vice president of media networks and content in Europe and Africa, during which time he oversaw local children’s channels, commissioning and developing Emmy-nominated. EvermorePlus First class chef, Beaver And 101 Dalmatian Street.
In a LinkedIn post, Levin says: “Creating the 25+ digital-first series has been a great experience leading the Munbagh Studio team; Original Cockmelon, Blippy And Little Baby Left Series for the best streamers like Netflix and Amazon Kids +; Score albums, podcasts for Spotify and more; Bringing content for kids worldwide in more than 25 languages; And expanding the presentation to our content, ”Levine added.
Kendall Media, owned by Tom Stags and Kevin Mayer, acquired Munbagh in November 2021 for a 3 billion deal. Its programming is shown in 27 languages on more than 100 platforms worldwide, including Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, HBO, Amazon and Sky. The Cockmelon The Nursery Rhymes channel is the most popular English-language channel on YouTube, with approximately 136 million subscribers worldwide.
