One of Spring’s hottest Broadway tickets will hit Broadway this summer: the acclaimed, best-selling Encore! Produced by James Lapine-Stephen Soundheim Classic In wood Will be relocating to the St. James Theater in Broadway on June 28 for a strictly limited eight-week engagement.
Sarah Barreils (as Baker’s wife) and Gavin Krill (as Wolf / Cinderella’s prince) will move from New York City Center to St. James. Not with Ride: Neil Patrick Harris and Heather Headley.
Brian D’ARCY James will take on the role of Baker from Harris, while Patina Miller will take on the role of witch, headley. Philippe Sue will play Cinderella (Danny Benton in the city center) and Joshua Henry Jordan will be the Prince of Rapunzel on behalf of Donika.
Also on the Broadway tour will be City Center cast members Tanika Gibson as Lucinda, Annie Golden as Cinderella’s mother / grandmother / Giant’s wife, Albert Guerjan as Cinderella’s father, Brooke Ishibashi as Florida, Brooke Ishibashi, Milky Way, Milky Way Julia Lester as Man, Little Red Riding Hood, Cole Thompson as Jack, and David Turner as Steward. Also on the cast are Jason Forbach, Mary Kate Moore and Cameron Johnson, with additional casting to be announced at a later date.
The move will not come as a huge surprise to the theater community in New York: The Encore! The production is one of the most talked about shows of the spring season and has received critical acclaim. The instrument, which premiered on Broadway in 1987, has not been produced on Broadway since a 2002 revival featuring Vanessa Williams, Laura Benanti, Stephen DeRosa, Greg Edelman, Christopher Sieber, Kerry O’Malley and Chad Kimball.
Encore! Jordan Roth, president of the Juzamsin Theater, announced the transfer today. Production-presented, as all encore! The production, in extended concert-style – like City Center, will be directed by Lear Debasonet and choreographed by Lorraine Lataro, led by Rob Berman The Encore! Orchestra as music director. In the barrel Produced by Juzamsin Theaters, Jordan Roth, Hunter Arnold, Nicole Eisenberg, Michael Castle Group, Daryl Roth, Showtown Productions, Jessica R. Jenen and John B. Platt.
The creative team includes David Rockwell (Scenic Design), Andrea Hood (Costume Design), Tyler Mikolo (Lighting Design), Scott Lehrer and Alex Newman (Co-Sound Designer), James Ortiz (Puppet Design) and Cookie Jordan (Hair, Wig and Design). Cody has been cast by Telsi & Co. under the production supervision of Reinard Richard.
The production will be dedicated to the memory of Stephen Soundheim.
