The Prince of Wales and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, will join the cast of the long-running TV soap EastEnders For a street party scene, on the occasion of HM The Queen’s 70th anniversary on the throne.
The royal couple filmed their cameo roles during a visit to the set in north-west London in March and meeting members of the cast.
The episode will air on British television on 2 June, just before the long holiday weekend where the UK will celebrate Platinum Jubilee.
The BBC has revealed that other members of the party will be seen surprised by the presence of the royal couple at their own Jubilee Street party.
Kelly Bright, who plays Linda Carter, a pub landlord, and will be seen introducing members of the royal family to the rest of the cast, told the BBC:
“I just thought, ‘Wow, they’ve never done that before.’ Not knowing what they could expect, I mean, it must have been nervous for them and completely out of their reach. So I hope they enjoy it as much as we do. “

“It simply came to our notice then EastEnders‘History,’ he said.
This is not the first time that members of the royal family have visited the BBC soap set. The Queen previously returned in 2001, where she was greeted by the then cast member, Dame Barbara Windsor. The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson also played a minor role in the show.
